Yale’s Generations project, established in 2019 as one of the largest DNA sequencing projects of its kind, was created with the overall goal to learn more about human health and disease in order to keep people healthy and to improve their clinical care. Consistent with that goal, Generations will act as the Yale DNA biorepository for the study of host genomic susceptibility to COVID-19.
The project plan is to consent and enroll at least 100,000 volunteers from across Connecticut, creating an electronic biobank to identify genetic mutations and patterns in DNA that may be related to certain health concerns. By linking these DNA patterns to electronic health record data, the project gains insights into human health and disease. This repository, which is anonymized, is carried out with oversight by the IRB and with a deep commitment to privacy and confidentiality.
